Italian Cultural Institute in Zagreb in collaboration with and guest appearance in Zagreb City Museum
Curator: Hela Vukadin-Doronjga, ZCM
Exhibition design: Krešimir Rogina
The exhibition “Francesco Borromini and Rome” has been organised by the Department of Cultural Relations of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the occasion of the 400th anniversary celebrations of the architect's birth, to underline his genial inventions, his modernity and all the innovations which left his significant imprint on The Eternal City.
Franco Tibaldi's artistic images take the visitor on a journey back in time, following itineraries common at the time, rediscovering and admiring familiar places spread all over the city.
We wonder at the well-known images flowing in front of our eyes: San Giovanni in Laterano, age-old seat of pilgrimages, the great patrician houses, the famous churches and also little known places, such as Santa Lucia in Selci and the Oratory of San Giovanni in Oleo.
The versatile appearance of a unique city that would undergo incredible changes over the centuries, is outlined. This itinerant exhibition wishes to show the images of one of the happiest moments in her history, on the threshold of the great jubilee of the year 2000.
