Our ancient ancestors from Gradec obtained the GOLDEN BULL from King Bela IV in Virovitica on 16 November 1242. Marking this major date in Zagreb's history, we have organised an exhibition to show the citizens and visitors of Zagreb the history of our existence from the Stone Age when the Neanderthal man, over 40,000 years ago, dwelled in caves in Veternica to the present day when Zagreb is becoming a genuine metropolis.
Our forefathers honoured the anniversaries of THE GOLDEN BULL by major events: 600 years with the Illyrian National Revival, 700 years with the Second World War, and we are now celebrating the 750 years of the Golden Bull today in the new, long-sought after, independent and free state of Croatia.
